Rollin' on the Zambezi River

We arrived at Royal Chundu after dark - The place was lit with  lanterns giving a warm glow to the night. Our beautiful smiling hosts made us feel right at home, between the iced Rooibos tea with neck and shoulder rubs by the staff, we were putty in their hands!  Once we took at look at our villas, we made our way to a huge table set just for us under the stars by the Zambezi river. (As with Tintswalo, our group occupied the entire lodge.) A delicious welcome dinner was served to us under the trees and overlooking the dark river. One thing I observed during this amazing adventure was wherever we ate, the portions were 'just right' - filling and satisfying. The meals were made of locally sourced produce, meat, eggs, very fresh and delicious.  Here are some evening photos...  The table was set with colorful Kitenge fabrics from the nearby village - warm and soft blankets were draped over the chairs for the very chilly evenings. It's lovely, isn't it?

 As we fly over the ocean off the African coast, I can see the light of the day from random open windows. People are stirring, and the snoring guy a few rows back has ceased his nocturnal serenade. (thank goodness for earplugs!) We are almost there!  We had a layover at Heathrow, and my anglophile heart so wanted to stay. Walking down the jet bridge, I felt like I was home. The place of my ancestors.  We walked for miles, looking for the Sofitel (located conveniently in terminal 5) ha! We asked for directions along the way, and were told "just go down a level, make a right turn by the M&S store and you go outside, then you go back inside and down a tunnel to the hotel" (now please repeat that in your best charming British accent!). Fly Gurl

On behalf of some amazing and very dear friends, I've had the honor of planning a trip for over a year now, a big one...the biggest of my career and also my life! To South Africa..18 people for over two weeks. What a dream itinerary! Did I mention John and I get to go too? 🌍✈️🇿🇦 All this excitement hasn't been without loads of worry. Worry is something I could do as an Olympic sport. I am guilty of creating 'what if' scenarios, and sometimes forget who is really in charge and holds all things in HIS Hand. I worry about traveling with John - will he fall? Hallucinate? Will his restless 'Jimmy' legs kick in? Jesus take the wheel! So today, I go to see my doctor to ask for anti-malaria medication. While she was looking up the requirements on the CDC website, she strongly urged me to get vaxed for Hep B and C, or was it A and E? Also wanted me to get Yellow Fever, Typhoid, and Measles today as well. Uh - let me think about it for a minute..No, nope, nada, not ha...
